According to Country Living, Massachusetts is home to the best Christmas town

There’s no home like home for the holidays, but several Massachusetts cities surpass the rest of the country.

Stockbridge was named America’s Best Christmas City by Country Living this year.

“Stockbridge could look like a Norman Rockwell painting – and that’s because it is,” the magazine said. “Each year, during its annual festival, the city creates the 1967 Rockwell painting, ‘Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas’. Old-fashioned cars line the main street to recreate the painting, and the public can tour historic homes decorated for the holidays. “

Country Living has published a list of 55 best Christmas towns to add to your vacation list. The magazine strongly recommends visiting these places but recommends doing so after the COVID pandemic.

“You may be staying closer to home for Christmas, but these festive cities are worth a spot on your future travel basket list,” said Country Living.

Stockbridge wasn’t the only Massachusetts town on the list.

All of Cape Cod came in 11th.

“There are few things more picturesque than lighthouses adorned with Christmas garlands, wreaths and lights. In addition, dozens of craft fairs, parades, theater productions and even a “train to the Christmas city” take place in the picturesque destination by the sea, ”describes the website.

Nantucket was number 18 on the list.

“The annual Christmas stroll, which takes place the first week of December, is a great way to do some local shopping while sipping mulled wine,” said Country Living.

Other locations that made the list include: North Pole, Alaska; Bethlehem, Penn .; and Santa Claus, Indiana.
