Mountain Hawks Ready for Virginia Challenge and Coach P Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks are hitting the road for another two-meet weekend this Friday and Saturday. While some members of the Lehigh women’s track and field team will stay in Bethlehem to compete at Moravian’s Coach P Invitational, others will head down to Virginia to compete at the Virginia Challenge.

The Mountain Hawks are coming off a solid weekend, finishing with 30 PRs and six all-time additions.

Leading the way for Lehigh was Jamie Zamrin who won the 3000m with a new PR of 10:01.73. The senior is currently ranked fifth all-time after her solid performance in Lewisburg.

Lehigh’s middle distance and distance runners continued to show improvement and earn more personal records at Bucknell last weekend. Seniors Hetty McMillan(4:31.52) and Julia Dorley (4:35.73) both earned PRs in the 1500m alongside junior Annalize Davis (4:44.63) and sophomore Christina Yakaboski (4:36.36).

McMillan and Yakaboski both finished Saturday with solid performances in the 800m. McMillan finished fourth overall with a time of 2:14.29 while Yakaboski earned her second personal record of the weekend, finishing with a time of 2:156.45.

On the sprints side, Ashley Griesmeyer finished the Bison Outdoor Classic with two personal records. The junior finished the 100m with a PR of 13.09 and finished the 100m hurdles with a PR of 14.87 to become ninth all-time.

First-year Melissa Cunningham also added her name to Lehigh’s Top 10 list last weekend, finishing the 200m with a PR of 25.29 to become fourth all-time.

The Mountain Hawks continued to show improvement in the field events at both the Bison Outdoor Classic and Greyhound Invitational last weekend. Leading the way for Lehigh was senior Carly Carpino who finished eighth overall in the heptathlon. Carpino finished with a new personal record score of 4143.

First-years Randi Conroy and Casey Talamini-Kelemen put up solid marks in the pole vault at Bucknell on Saturday. Conroy tied her PR of 3.70m while Talamini Kelemen earned a new PR of 3.55m.

Senior Teasha McKoy won the discus at Moravian’s Greyhound Invitational last Friday, finishing with a mark of 47.88m. McKoy also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.61m. Fellow senior Veronica Meyer finished second in the javelin (39.76m) and fourth in the hammer throw (46.43m) while first-year Karina Roze earned a new PR in the hammer throw (39.30m) and also earned a fourth-place finish in the javelin (36.44m)
