Mary Foltz Receives American Council of Learned Societies’ Scholars and Society Fellowship

Mary Foltz, Associate Professor of English and Director of the South Side Initiative, has been awarded a Scholars and Society Fellowship by the American Council of Learned Societies.

Foltz, a member of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program, will work with regional LGBTQ organizations to build their archival collections and produce lectures, academic articles, and social media programs. She has already partnered with the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center in Allentown where she leads a community LGBTQ memoir reading group in connection with her work with the South Side Initiative.

The American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship program recognizes fellowships in the humanities and social sciences with the ability to make a significant contribution to knowledge in their field and supports six to 12 months of full-time research and writing. The program awards grants to individual scholars in the humanities and related social sciences.
