Early in March, Lehighsports.com will take a look at the Lehigh soccer team, which will be playing a four-game schedule for the Patriot League in spring 2021. The Mountain Hawks, under the direction of sophomore coach Tom Gilmore, will open the 2021 spring season on March 13 against Holy Cross at Goodman Stadium.

We’ll start our look at the defense with a preview of the linebackers.

That position was an area of strength in 2019, led by the dynamic duo Keith Woetzel and Pete Haffner. Woetzel ended his Lehigh career by receiving All America Honors and setting a school record with 12 sacks. Haffner received the second team’s All-League award after registering 97 tackles, 10 tackles against loss and 4.5 sacks with two interruptions. He will serve as one of Lehigh’s captains this spring.

Senior Nate Norris has been held back by injury for the last two seasons, but if healthy could turn out to be an excellent partner alongside Haffner.

The other returning linebacker is sophomore Henry Houghton. Newbies Tim Bell, Drew DeMorat and Mike DeNucci all impressed last season and will be fighting for time.
