Hurly Leads Lehigh On Day One Of Lafayette’s ABARTA Collegiate Invitational

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s golf team opened Lafayette’s ABARTA Collegiate Invitational with a round of 13 over par 301 Sunday afternoon at The Steel Club. The defending team champion Mountain Hawks are in a four way tie for seventh place in a 20-team field entering Monday’s final round.

Junior David Hurly was the low Lehigh player on Sunday as he shot one under par 71. Hurly was one of six players to shoot under par on Sunday and sits in a tie for fourth place, two strokes behind co-leaders Justin Burkhamer of Iona and Jackson Bussell of Bucknell.

Lehigh’s second-lowest round Sunday was turned in by sophomore Edmund Broderick, who shot two over par 74 and is tied for 18th place.

First-year Aidan Oehrle is tied for 51st place following an opening round 77. Junior Sam Barton shot 79 and is tied for 72nd place, while classmate Daniel Song is tied for 80th after shooting 80.

Lehigh also has two players competing as individuals. Sophomore Marco Arosemena shot 76 and is tied for 40th place. Junior Joey Dotta shot 80 and is tied for 80th.

Iona shot 292 to lead the team standings after one day. Rhode Island is second, one shot behind the Gaels, while Bucknell is third.

The ABARTA Collegiate Invitational concludes Monday with the final 18 holes from The Steel Club.
