Dallmeyer Announces 2022 Lehigh Field Hockey Leadership Council
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With preseason beginning this week, Lehigh head field hockey coach Caitlin Dallmeyer announced the Mountain Hawks’ 2022 Leadership Council on Monday. Seniors Sophie Leighton and Sydney White, along with junior Abbie Brown and sophomore Guusje Hogendoorn, will serve on the LC for the 2022 season.
“I have been really impressed with the functionality of our Leadership Council over the last few years and this year is no different,” said Dallmeyer. “We have a great group of women who are respected by their team and coaches, and who have grown within our team culture in ways that allow them to empower others in doing the same. I know they feel immense gratitude and welcome the tremendous responsibility that comes with being voted into these roles.”
Leighton, White and Brown were all part of the Mountain Hawks’ 2021 Leadership Council. Each of the three (along with Hogendoorn) bring different perspectives to the program, and will look to keep the momentum going from last season’s 11 wins, which was the program’s most since 1994.
These four will also be active in the Flight 45 Engagement Groups. White and Brown are a member of COACH (Community Outreach by Athletes who Care about Helping) while Leighton is a member of the Flight 45 Executive Board.

Perspectives from Teammates
On Sophie Leighton:
“Sophie is an incredible leader and is really good at including everyone and checking in with everyone and supporting everyone as much as she can. She works really hard to be the best player that she can be and holds others accountable when they need to be. She truly exemplifies what it is to be a member of LUFH.”
On Sydney White:
“Syd is a really good leader and a good liaison between the team and coaches to hear the thoughts of everyone. She demonstrates all of our team values and is always looking for how herself and the team can get better.”
On Abbie Brown:
“Abbie is extremely hardworking on and off the field, she sets a really good example of what LUFH players should look like on the field. Off the field Abbie is the kind of person you want to talk to about any issues and she’s not afraid to be there for you when you need support while still holding you accountable when necessary.”
On Guusje Hogendoorn:
“Guusje is so deserving of a position on the LC because of how hard she works. Having such an important role on the team as a freshman is a lot of pressure, and she handled it so well. She leads by example in her work ethic , and brings positivity and perspective to all that she does.”
