Combined 17 athletes will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa – The Lehigh men’s and women’s athletics teams will collectively send 17 athletes to the IC4A / ECAC championships in Springfield, Massachusetts this weekend. The three-day event begins on Friday with the promotion closing on Sunday afternoon for the Mountain Hawks. All qualified athletes that year had to be in the top 32 at their respective events. Since COVID affected the season, there were no qualifying grades.

The majority of the athletes for Lehigh will compete on Saturday, however some of them will compete on Friday and Sunday. The Brown and White have three members who compete against each other at 3:30 p.m. on the first day. Louis Logsdail and Conor Reilly will both take part in the pole vault for Lehigh. Reilly is currently in eighth place with a mark of 4.90 m (16’0.75 “), while Logsdail has just made the cut and is 30th with 4.45 m (14’7.25”). Junior Veronica Meyer is also scheduled for a time slot at 3:30 p.m. in the Speer. The junior is currently making the cut to 39.93 m.

The jumper Kerry Perna and the distance runner Connor Melko will start on Saturday with the high jump at 12.00 p.m. and the 1500 m at 12.15 p.m. for Lehigh. Melko will run the 5 km later at 5:50 p.m. Melko is currently in 16th place in the 1500 m (3: 48.13) and 31st in the 5 km (14: 25.35). Chae Kim will run the 100mH at 1:15 p.m. Kim’s 100mH will be a qualifier for the event. The final will take place on Sunday. Brandtson Duffie and Jacob Martinez will both represent the browns and whites in the 800 meter run at 3:10 p.m.

Some of the field events start at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and the Mountain Hawks are well represented. Quinn Conlan just made the cut with a score of 45.30 m (148’7 “) to enter. Teasha McKoy took 20th place in the shot put with a mark of 13.97 m (45’10”) . Most recently, Ian Scott came 14th in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 m on Saturday.

At 16:40 in Lehigh, two distance guys will compete in the obstacle race in Nick Norton and Avery Lederer. Norton is eighth for the Mountain Hawks with a time of 9: 03.36, while Lederer only jumped in with a time of 9: 37.94. Distance runner Madison Zaun will compete in the 5K race around Lehigh at 5:20 pm. The 10K race will be held on Saturday at 10:15 am, while Jeffrey Kirshenbaum and Brad DeMassa will compete in the long race.

On Sunday, the last day, three, possibly four athletes will compete against each other in Lehigh. All three guaranteed athletes start at 11:00 a.m. Rachel Sequeira is in the triple jump field with a top score of 11.67 m. In the discus, McKoy ranks 16th (154’2 “) with a mark of 46.99 m, while Scott is currently in second place with a mark of 14.28 m (46’10.25 “) is set.

Regardless of the results this weekend and the destination, athletes will have to wait to see the qualifying lists for the first round of the NCAA championships. NCAA qualifiers are expected to be announced early next week. The top 48 qualifiers will then compete in the NCAA East region.
