Toronto FC was due to charter to Florida on Friday for the World Cup tournament, which will take place July 8 through August 11 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in the Orlando area.

Toronto opens against DC United on July 10th.

Toronto coach Greg Vanney said Thursday he was taking 29 players to the tournament. Nigerian striker Ifunanyachi Achara, the 30th man on the squad, is due to undergo knee surgery on Tuesday and is gone for the season.

The MLS has been inactive since the game was suspended on March 12, two weeks into the season, due to the global pandemic.
