The Lehigh COVID-19 Response Team sent an email to the campus community on Feb. 12 noting urgent changes to campus status following a reported positivity rate of 10.2 percent on Feb. 8 and 5.3 percent on Dec. February were set out.

Changes include the continuation of the mandatory COVID-19 surveillance tests for all students on campus and off campus during the week of February 15, the reduction in in-person tuition, and the new CDC recommendation on double masking.

To date, the COVID-19 dashboard reports a total of 344 active cases of COVID-19, with 208 living off-campus among students and 136 living in dormitories among students.

In other news, Provost Nathan Urban announced two new guidelines on February 4 that will allow students, faculty staff, and alumni to identify their chosen name and gender identity in university systems.

The Pride Center hopes these efforts will improve the experience for transgender students and staff, but recognizes that significant work remains to be done.

Peer health counselors are partnering with the meditation app Headspace to provide opportunities for students to undress and recharge as some students experience isolation and increased anxiety during the pandemic.

Two weeks after the start, over 750 Lehigh students have signed up for the subscription and will have access to 1,200 hours of mediation, sleep content, mindful movement exercises and focus music.

On the sports news, the Lehigh men’s and women’s basketball teams have ended their COVID-19 breaks, while baseball swimming and athletics have paused activities due to positive COVID-19 cases among team members.
