Men’s Track and Field Scheduled for Two Battles on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a competitive performance in Saturday’s Angry Birds Challenge, the Lehigh men’s track team will compete in two events on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks will have several athletes at the Villanova Open at Staten Island’s Ocean Breeze Complex, while others will compete at the Covert Classic at Rauch Fieldhouse.

Lehigh comes off a third-place finish where the Mountain Hawks finished with 119.5 points behind Monmouth and Binghamton.

Fourteen student-athletes finished the Angry Birds Challenge with new personal records, including first-year Liam Lovering, who finished fourth in the shot put (14.43m), and first-year trio Mulenga Malama (6.48m), Jordan Layos (6.46 m) and Jalen Blango (6.18 m), who finished sixth, seventh and eighth in the long jump.

The Mountain Hawks will look to add to their wins and set personal records as they compete at two venues on Saturday.

At the Villanova Open, Lehigh will face off against Connecticut, St. John’s, Penn, Temple and more. Competing in smoke, the Mountain Hawks will fight various schools including DeSales, Colgate, Moravian and Saint Joseph’s. Moravian is the host institution for the Covert Classic.

The Villanova Open starts at 12.00 with the women’s weight throw, the women’s pole vault and the men’s and women’s long jump. The Covert Classic, held at the Rauch Fieldhouse but hosted by Moravian, begins on Saturday at 10am with the women’s pole vault and men’s 5K.

As the Moravian is the host institution for the Covert Classic, no spectators are allowed in the Rauch Fieldhouse. The Covert Classic can be streamed here and live results can be found here.
