Make a $ 2.1 million impact by helping the kids raise $ 300,000 in 30 days

OKLAHOMA CITY, August 31, 2020 / PRNewswire / – For many families across America and around the world, 2020 was the hungriest year in modern history. That is why Feed the Children, a leading nonprofit focused on childhood hunger alleviation, has declared September the month of hunger defeat and has set itself the goal of increasing it $ 300,000 in 30 days. Every dollar multiplies seven times – assuming $ 2.1 million in groceries and essentials for families around the world.

You might be surprised to learn that one in four children in the US is facing hunger or food insecurity due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19. And the World Health Organization estimates that 132 million more people could go hungry in 2020 if families keep fighting.

Feed the children, work 365 days a year to eradicate hunger and improve the lives of children and families The United States and in 10 countries around the world. But the organization cannot do it alone. They work with public and private partners to ensure everyone has access to the safe, healthy, and nutritious food they need, anywhere. By working with a large network of community partners (such as pantries and soup kitchens), Feed the Children provides food and essentials, educational initiatives and disaster relief to help children and their families lead stable lives, as well as providing them with food and resources available to help you out today.

Since March, the nonprofit has distributed nearly £ 38 million of groceries and staples to more than 500 partners across America.

One such partner is the Salvation Army from Allentown, Penn. who reported that the number of families visiting their bi-monthly food bank has tripled since early 2020.

It’s a feeling that’s borne out by many of the Feed the Children’s Community’s partners across the country. “We have been helping four times as many families with food aid since COVID-19, and we couldn’t do that without Feed the Children,” he said Eric John’s pastor of the Buffalo Dream Center. “With the demand for food increasing and families in need, we had to make sure we were in the community out there to help people.”

For parents like Erika, these community partners have created a lifeline for urgently needed food and essentials for their families.

She said that in the past few months her working hours have been cut drastically and it has become difficult to care for her children. It was particularly difficult as she was unable to get the take-away meals that were offered in schools as they were only available during her working hours.

“I stretched a can of corn for three days,” she said. “It breaks my heart not to be able to give my children what they need.”

Feed the Children has five distribution centers in The United States including Bethlehem, Penn., Elkhart, Ind., LaVergne, Tenn., Oklahoma City, Okla. and Ontario, California which serve as hubs to provide storage-stable groceries and much-needed staples to families in all 50 states and the US District of Columbia.
