From the editor: Low turnout looms for Election Day, but the work carries on

Andy reported that by May 7, more than 4,500 Allentoners, including more than 3,300 Democrats, had requested postal ballot papers. That number gives me hope that the turnout will be more respectable this time around, but what if those ballots were the super voters that always turn out to be? Do the math. If the numbers are similar to 2017, the last time we elected a Mayor of Allentown, it would mean there will be about 3,000 people voting in person on Tuesday. The polls will be a ghost town.
