World-renowned artist partners with Bethlehem retailer to craft unique Christmas ornament
A popular home accessories retailer in Bethlehem is working with a world-famous artist to bring their customers an exclusive Christmas ornament in the cityscape.
Domaci started collaborating with artist Lisa Kelechava, president and founder of Joy to the World Collectibles earlier this year. The ornament is currently on sale in limited quantities in the store at 523 Main Street as part of the July Christmas party in downtown Bethlehem. The event runs from now until July 25, with companies participating in various activities and offering customer promotions.
The hand-painted glass ornament was made in Europe and created by master craftsmen. It pays homage to Bethlehem with its cityscape and famous landmarks like the Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces; Tower of the Central Moravian Church; and historic main street.
Bethlehem was christened “Christmas City, USA” in December 1937. Since then, visitors around the world flock to enjoy the many traditions during the Christmas season. Domaci co-founders Warren and Derrick Clark said the couple had the opportunity to meet Kelechava, an Allentown native, at AmericasMart Atlanta Market in Georgia earlier this year.
The owners wanted something special for guests this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, Warren Clark said.
“To be able to work with someone like Lisa, with their incredible talent and special connection to the region, was simply beyond our imagination when the project started,” he said.
Kelechava called the project “dear and dear” and stated that her family currently lives in Bethlehem and that she is a graduate of Lehigh University. Kelechava has been making Christmas decorations since the company was founded in 1998. The company currently has seven different collections and more than 1,200 ornaments in its open line, she said.
“Christmas City is very special to me,” added Kelechava.
The Clarks plan to wear the ornament until it sells out, and then it will only be made available during the holiday season. Additional “Christmas in July” promotions at Domaci include full early access to the store’s Christmas decor selection and freebies in stores and on social media, and 25% off all Christmas items, including City Cityscape Christmas decorations in July.
