HAMILTON, NY – The Lehigh men’s tennis team (3-0, 2-0) traveled to Colgate on business Saturday and got the job done as the Mountain Hawks’ four singles wins were enough to drive them past the Raiders. With the win, Lehigh improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2013/14 season.

In doubles, the Raiders were able to sneak out the point by winning two of the matches. Lehigh’s top pair Zack Elliott and Harry Wang won 6-4 against their opponents. The No. 2 pair Jacob Edelchik and Gary Fishkin lost a close 7-6 match.

Though he dropped the colon, Lehigh’s will and determination did not allow Colgate to gain victory. The brown-whites showed adversity by winning four individual games. Matt Kleiman, Jacob Edelchik and Jordan Paul all won in straight sets for Lehigh. Kleiman took the win by a score of 6-3, 6-2, while Edelchik’s 7-6, 6-2 win helped Lehigh. In 6th place was the victory of the newcomer Paul 6-2, 6-2.

Wang, the senior captain of Lehigh, sealed the victory for the brown-whites. Despite dropping the first set 7-6, the senior leader fought his way back and took the last two sets 7-6 and 6-3 to secure the dub for the Mountain Hawks.

Next, Lehigh will travel to Annapolis and face the Naval Academy next Saturday.
