Make a $ 3.2 million effect by helping the kids raise $ 400,000 in 4 weeks

OKLAHOMA CITY, September 1, 2021 / PRNewswire / – America is beginning to recover from the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, but there is still no end in sight for the millions of children who don’t have enough to eat. You might be surprised to learn that one in six children in the United States faces hunger or food insecurity – which means they may not know how to get their next meal. That’s why Feed the Children, a leading nonprofit focused on child hunger relief, has made September Defeat Hunger Month and committed to making it happen $ 400,000 in four weeks. Thanks to our generous partners, every dollar multiplies eight times – provided $ 3.2 million in food and staples for struggling US families.

Many children and their families, hardest hit by the pandemic, are facing new hardships. Unemployment benefits are running out, back rent payments have to be made, and the demands of new jobs can lead to unexpected frustrations and stretched family budgets. For many, this difficult time could mean additional hunger, food insecurity, malnutrition, and other painful consequences.

Feed the Children works 365 days a year to satisfy hunger and improve the lives of vulnerable children and families The United States. But the organization cannot do it alone. They work with public and private partners to ensure everyone, everywhere, has access to the safe, healthy, and nutritious food they need.

Working with a network of community partners, the nonprofit distributes long-life groceries and essential household items and disaster relief supplies to children and families to help them live stable lives, while providing them with food and resources to help them today.

Darren is a single father who lives in the country with his two daughters and two sons Oklahoma. As a landscaper, he could always find enough work that he never needed before to seek help. COVID-19 quickly changed that. As with many parents, Darren’s sudden loss of income from underemployment was compounded by the pressing issue of childcare after school closes. He found himself in a difficult position.

“Work went downhill immediately after the pandemic and then the kids had to come home from school,” he says. “I had to stay at home more with my children. I still work as much as possible, but I can’t work as much as I need to.”

Fortunately, just before schools reopened, Darren heard from a family member about a pantry and a ride back to school in his area. There he gathered enough groceries and supplies he could afford to focus on other important things his children needed, such as clothes and shoes.

Feed the Children has five distribution centers in The United States including Bethlehem, Penn., Elkhart, Ind., LaVergne, Tenn., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. and Chandler, Aris. serving as regional hubs to provide long-life and much-needed groceries to families in all 50 states and the US District of Columbia.

In addition to her work in the United States, Feed the Children also works in eight countries around the world serving families in The saviour, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Malawi, the Phillipines, Tanzania and Uganda. There, the nonprofit offers a child-centered approach to community development that highlights four key programs including food and nutrition, health and water, education and livelihoods. The organization’s efforts provide an opportunity for parents to acquire the skills they need to raise well-fed and thriving children.
