Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club receives two awards | News, Sports, Jobs

The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club recently received two awards. One award was for achieving the club’s goal of donating $ 42,000 to UNICEF and Kiwanis International’s Eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus Challenge. The other award was for the club’s annual donation of $ 440 to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund. The Model Club patch for Eliminate Maternal / Neonatal Tetanus and the 2019-2020 patch for the Kiwanis Children’s Fund were received to recognize these achievements. The patches will be added to the club’s banner.

Tetanus in maternal newborns has been eliminated in 25 countries thanks to donations from Kiwanis clubs around the world. There are still 14 countries at risk of this deadly disease.

The funds raised for the Kiwanis Children’s Fund go to Kiwanis Service Leadership Projects in elementary, middle and high schools, as well as programs for students with special needs. Grants are available for projects that help children. Scholarships are offered every year.

The Lehigh Kiwanis Club meets on Wednesday morning at 7:30 am at the El Tarasco Restaurant. The public is cordially invited to attend these meetings. The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Thrift Store is the primary source of income for projects. It’s at 15 Homestead Road South.
