BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania – The Lehigh Football team was voted fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll unveiled Tuesday. Junior Defensive Back Jack Bush represents the Mountain Hawks in the Preseason All-League Team as a non-specialized special team player.

The preseason All-Patriot League team, key awards, and a poll will be voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Bush was the first non-specialist in the All Patriot League special teams in 2019 as a newcomer in 2019. That year, Bush played in all 11 games as cornerback and as a key member of Lehigh’s kickoff, kickoff return, punt and punt return Units . Six of Bush’s nine tackles in 2019 took place in special teams, with four stops on kickoffs and two on punt returns.

In the spring 2021 season, Bush moved into the starting eleven as cornerback and started all three Lehigh games, in addition to his roles in special teams. Bush had six tackles and forced a fumble in three games that spring.

Lehigh collected 35 points in the preseason poll and ended up in the midfield of the league with seven teams. The two-time defending champion Holy Cross leads the poll with 71 points and 11 votes for first place. Fordham got the other top three winners and scored 63 points. Lafayette was third with 44 points. The Mountain Hawks are followed by Bucknell (30), Georgetown (28) and Colgate (23).

The Mountain Hawks had six All-Patriot League honors after the spring season, five of whom returned this fall. Junior Safety TyGee Leach was the first team selection in the spring. Fifth year linebacker Pete Haffner, senior tight end Alex Snyder, senior center Justin Gurth, and sophomore cornerback LaTreil Wimberly were all second team pick. Haffner is now a two-time All League winner.

Lehigh will be opening preseason camp next week to prepare for the season opener on Saturday September 4th when the Mountain Hawks welcome Villanova to Goodman Stadium. Season and single game tickets are currently sold along with mini-plans and can be purchased on LehighTickets.com.
