On July 21, the JN “Thing” The Darling National Wildlife Refuge education team attended a summer camp in the underserved community of Tice with a program “Swimming with success.” The refuge is focused on sea turtles and was one of several that the refuge introduced to the community to provide educational support to Tice, starting with Wildlife on Wheels in January. The supervisory authority Refuge Ranger Toni Westland reported, “Tice Elementary was WoW’s first visit and we were received with incredible enthusiasm. We really built a special relationship with the students, teachers and PTA there. The kids come running to get hugs when they see ‘Thing’ for a special program. “
