Lehigh’s Looking for Fifth-Straight Win at Loyola on Monday Night on CBS Sports Network

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s basketball team is back in action on Monday night when the Mountain Hawks travel to Baltimore to take on Loyola (Md.) in a Patriot League contest inside Reitz Arena on CBS Sports Network. Game time is set for 7 pm

Lehigh (9-8, 4-2 PL) enters the game coming off a 78-62 win over American on Saturday afternoon in Stabler Arena for the Mountain Hawks’ consecutive fourth win that featured senior Evan Taylor reaching 1,000 career points. The Brown and White were led by sophomore Keith Higgins Jr., who was one of four Mountain Hawks to reach double-digits in scoring, contributing 18 points, two assists, a steal and one rebound. He reached the 500-point milestone on the afternoon and was 5-of-9 from the field, all five shots were made three-pointers, and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the foul line. Classmate Tyler Whitney-Sidney followed suit with 17 points on 6-for-12 from the floor and was 5-for-5 at the charity stripe. He also added four boards and three assists. Taylor totaled 15 points, including three three-pointers, a team-high eight rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot and one assist. Rounding out Lehigh in double-figures was junior Dominic Parolin, who ended the game with 10 points, going 5-for-7 from the floor to go with four rebounds.

Senior Evan Taylor and sophomores Keith Higgins Jr. and Tyler Whitney-Sidney are averaging 13-plus points for the Mountain Hawks. Taylor, who just reached 1,000 career points has contributed 14.6 points with 5.8 rebounds per contest. Higgins Jr. averages 13.8 points per game and 2.1 assists per contest, Whitney-Sidney is scoring 13.5 points per outing, and a team-leading 29 steals and 2.4 assists per game, along with 5.0 rebounds.

Loyola (7-12, 2-4 PL) is coming into Monday night’s game off a narrow victory over Navy (69-67) with a last-second layup from Jaylin Andrews. Winning their last two league games, taking down Navy and Bucknell (67-57), Loyola dropped its first four Patriot League games, falling to Colgate (101-67), American (71-55), Army (78-55), and Holy Cross (63-55). The only common non-league opponent between the programs has been UMBC when the Greyhounds lost 72-69 and Lehigh fell 88-62. Two Greyhounds are averaging double-figures, with Kenneth Jones and Jaylin Andrews both averaging 10.7 points per game. Jones leads Loyola in steals (37), assists (61) and made three-pointers (34) while Andrews is bringing down 3.6 rebounds per game to go with 29 assists and 17 steals.

Lehigh and Loyola are tied 14-14 in the overall series, but Lehigh is 6-4 in their last 10 meetings. The Greyhounds swept the season series a season ago and are looking to make it three straight wins against the Mountain Hawks with a second consecutive win inside Reitz Arena.

The Mountain Hawks return home to take on Lafayette on Saturday, Jan 21 in The Rivalry presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Service Electric Network.
