BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania – Lehigh’s head coach for women’s football, Eric Lambinus, announced the Mountain Hawks 2021 schedule on Friday, which includes 16 games – eight home, eight away – against teams of different styles and from a variety of different conferences. The season kicks off with the eternal MAAC power Monmouth on the road and also includes reigning MAAC champion Siena along with BIG EAST opponents St. John’s and Seton Hall as well as the Ivy League power Princeton.

The Mountain Hawks open the season in twos – in Monmouth (Friday, August 20) and Drexel (Thursday, August 26). In the spring, the Hawks finished 5-1-3 and advanced into the MAAC Championship Game for a fifth straight season, connecting top-seeded Siena, but the Saints won the title and the NCAA tournament bid on penalties. Lehigh has had some success against Monmouth lately, playing 1-0-4 each season from 2015-19. Meanwhile, Lehigh and Drexel will compete against each other for the first time since 2001.

Lehigh’s home opener is on Sunday, August 29th, against reigning MAAC Champion Siena, marking the very first meeting between the Mountain Hawks and Saints. A few days later, Lehigh travels to St. John’s for a Thursday night showdown at St. John’s; the only other meeting between the programs was a 2-1 win for the Mountain Hawks in 2017.

Lehigh concludes his game plan ahead of the Patriot League with a home game against Wagner on the following Thursday (September 9th) and a trip to Seton Hall on Sunday (September 12th). The Mountain Hawks and Seahawks have never played when Lehigh and Seton Hall last competed against each other to open the 2012 season.

The Mountain Hawks won’t leave Lehigh Valley in the first four games of their league plan. The Patriot League game begins on Saturday September 18 at home against Army West Point and is quickly followed by a showdown at rival Lafayette on Wednesday September 22. The league schedule continues Home versus Holy Cross (Sunday, September 26th), Home versus Boston University (Friday, October 1st), Navy (Friday, October 8th), home versus Colgate (Wednesday, October 13th) and at Loyola (Saturday, October 16).

After an out-of-league game against Princeton on Tuesday, October 19, the Mountain Hawks will complete their regular season schedule at American (Saturday, October 23) and at home against Bucknell (Wednesday, October 27).

The Patriot League tournament begins with the quarter-finals on Sunday, October 31st, the semi-finals are scheduled for Thursday, November 4th and the championship game is scheduled for Sunday, November 7th. The Mountain Hawks have made their final game in the Patriot League tournament battle for each of the past two seasons, but their first trip to PLT since 2018 – when they rose to the title game at Boston University.
