A 911 caller reported seeing smoke emanating from a building in Block 3500 on Lee Boulevard around 1:01 a.m., officials from the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District said in a news release released Friday afternoon.
“We responded to investigate the reported fire and observed smoke from the Family Dollar at 3519 Lee Blvd.” District spokeswoman Katie Heck said. “The crews began an attack on the fire that required additional support from neighboring fire areas.”

There were no injuries.
“Once it was determined that the building was safe to enter, an investigation was conducted by our firefighter and members of the Lee County Arson Task Force, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigations.” Said Heck. “The cause of the fire was arson and will remain an open investigation with the Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigations.
