Lehigh Athletics respects and welcomes invitations to participate in research and each request we receive is reviewed and evaluated carefully by a Department Committee.
We receive numerous requests for permission to survey our undergraduate student athletes. Our athletes have incredibly busy schedules and have shared with us the challenges they face in trying to comply with survey requests (sometimes from Athletics, sometimes from the University and sometimes from outside sources). They have asked us to try to limit the number of survey requests we pass along to them.
Accordingly, while we do recognize the value of advancing knowledge through inquiry, we are likely to encourage student-athlete participation in only a few projects that may have direct relevance to our student-athlete or staff experience. The time of year (relative to academic obligations) may also impact a decision to recommend or not recommend the participation of our athletes in a research project.
Irrespective of Lehigh’s involvement, we wish all researchers success in their pursuits.
