Lehigh Announces 2022 Women’s Cross Country Schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off of a solid 2021 season, head women’s cross country coach Deb Utesch announced the schedule for the 2022 season on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks will kick off the season at Goodman Campus Cross Country Course where they will host the Lehigh Invitational on Sept. 2 at 6:15 pm Following its season and home opener, Lehigh will host two more meets this season.

After their first meet of the season, the Mountain Hawks will travel to State College, Pa. to compete in the Harry Groves Invitational, Sept. 9. The following weekend, Lehigh will host Lafayette in its annual dual meet at 5:15 pm The Mountain Hawks defeated the Leopards 21-40 last year to earn their 16th consecutive victory.

After the annual rivalry meet, Lehigh will host the highly anticipated Paul Short Run on Friday, Sept. 30. The women’s open 6k will begin at 10:15 am and the women’s gold 6k will start at 11:45 am At last year’s race, the Mountain Hawks finished 21st in the gold 6k. Recent graduate Jade Sessions finished first for the Lehigh women’s cross country team, followed by junior Christina Yakaboski and sophomore Maddison Hayes.

Following the Paul Short Run, the Mountain Hawks will be on the road for the reminder of the season. Lehigh will travel to New York City on Oct. 14 to compete at the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. Lehigh will get a short break to prepare for the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 29. The championship will be held in Lewisburg, Pa. this year with competition beginning at 10 am

The Mountain Hawks will make a second trip to Penn State to wrap up the season at the Mid Atlantic Regionals on Nov. 11. The NCAA Championships will take place on Nov. 19 at Oklahoma State.
