Hotel Bethlehem opens Main Street ice cream parlor, coffee and gift shop

Hotel Bethlehem will open a shared ice cream, coffee and souvenir shop in its Main Street window front later this month.

The Shoppe at Hotel Bethlehem will serve 12 flavors of Penn State’s Berkey Creamery ice cream, which the hotel first sold during the Celtic Classic last year. The hotel has since sold the ice cream in its restaurants and lobby, but the new store will give it greater visibility, officials said.

The shop at Hotel Bethlehem opens on August 23 in the area where the hotel sells beer during the music festival.

“After seeing the popularity of Penn State ice cream with students, alumni, tourists and local residents, we knew we needed to make it more convenient and accessible,” hotel general manager Dennis Costello said in a statement. “This gave us a great opportunity to bring our ice cream parlor to Main Street while expanding our gift shop and making it a shopping destination on Main Street.”

The new shop window front triples the area of ​​the hotel’s gift shop, which sells jewelry, accessories, home accessories and individual embroidery, among other things. The shop focuses on selling items from the USA.

The coffee bar in the new shop will offer cappuccino, espresso, coffee specialties and a self-service coffee station. The store will also sell The Tap Room’s signature nut mix, locally made bazzini nuts, and a new Hotel B – wich ice cream cookie sandwich.

The Shoppe at Hotel Bethlehem will debut on Main Street as part of an all-day Penn State Lehigh Valley Day. The local Nittany Lion Bank will be on Main Street and the day features live music and activities for children.

Participating businesses in the downtown area will donate 5 percent of their sales from 10 am to 4 pm on August 23 to support childhood cancer, a cause Penn State has special ties with due to its annual THON weekend. Attendees can purchase an Event Pass for $ 5 at Hotel Bethlehem or on the Downtown Bethlehem Association website, which lists participating companies.

The proceeds from the sale of passports will also be donated to childhood cancer.

Entrants can get passport stamped at participating businesses they visit to enter a competition to win a gift basket with prizes including two nights at Hotel Bethlehem, Penn State Swag, DBA gift certificate, restaurant gift certificates and shops as well as local goods.
