Veterans Suicide Awareness Event and Resource Fair set for March 26 | News, Sports, Jobs

A regional veteran suicide awareness event and resource fair will be held in Port Charlotte on March 26.

American Legion District 13, along with Project: VetRelief, will host the event to run from 10 am to 5 pm at American Legion Post 110, 3152 Harbor Boulevard.

The Veterans Suicide Awareness Event and Resource Fair will include mental health, suicide, therapy or counseling, service dog, homeless, women veteran, caregiver, and family resources.

The event will also include children’s activities, entertainment by the veteran band Blackbird Anthem, and a Vietnam Veteran Pinning.

The event and resource fair is a fundraising event where the money raised allows PROJECT: VetRelief to fulfill its core mission of “assisting Florida’s veterans, active-duty military members, and their families in their time of need. They can confront issues by addressing a veteran’s, service member’s and family member’s condition in a time of crisis, working to secure benefits, and offering a support system.”

PROJECT: VetRelief provides services “to lessen the burden carried by our veteran, servicemen and women and deter these significant issues from affecting their lives.”

The American Legion, District 13, covers Lee, Hendry, Charlotte, and Collier counties.
