Mountain Hawks Defeat Villanova 5-2, Finish The Weekend 2-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s tennis team grabbed its second win of the weekend, defeating Villanova 5-2 on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks improved to 6-5 on the season with their back-to-back wins.
Lehigh got off to a slow start during doubles play, with senior Zack Elliott and junior Steven Nazaroff grabbing the Mountain Hawks’ only win during doubles. At the No. 1 spot, the duo defeated Villanova’s Josh Robinson and Alex Kim 6-1.
The Mountain Hawks were able to find their rhythm during singles play, winning five of the six matches. First-year Marc Blekhman got Lehigh on the board during singles play. At the No. 2 spot, Blekhman defeated Villanova’s Kim 6-1, 6-2.
Junior Michael Bukhalo followed suit, securing a win in the fifth flight. Bukhalo defeated Anthony Procurate 6-1, 6-4. At the No. 6 spot, sophomore Jordan Paul grabbed his eighth win of the season, defeating Villanova’s Ryan Nguyen 6-2 in two sets.
Senior Zack Elliott secured the win for Lehigh at the No. 1 spot. Elliott secured his seventh win of the season against Josh Robinson, defeating him 6-3, 6-4. Fellow senior Gary Fishkin was the last Mountain Hawk to grab a win during singles play. Fishkin defeated Villanova’s Matthew Jones 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.
Lehigh wants to compete in his second league match of the season next weekend. The Mountain Hawks will host Colgate on March 27 at 10 am
