Lehigh Wraps Up Action At Rainy Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women’s golf team shot 336 on the final day of the Navy Fall Invitational, Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. First year Yuki Zhu shot 80 to lead Lehigh’s five-player scoring contingent as the Mountain Hawks finished 13th as a team with a final total of 661 (325-336).

Zhu carded two birdies in her final round and tied for 30th place at 162 (82-80).

Lehigh’s top finisher was sophomore Madison Pineda, who tied for 21st place at 157 (76-81). Pineda’s final round was highlighted by a chip-in birdie on the third hole.

Junior Meghna Grover matched Zhu with an 80 on Sunday and tied for the top individual in the field as she tied for 37th place at 163 (83-80).

First-year Evelyn Wong followed her opening round 76 with an 87 and also tied for 37th place at 163. Wong made one birdie in her final 18 holes.

Lehigh’s other two scoring players were sophomore Sophie Chang, who finished in 79th place at 179 (91-88) and senior Hannah Foster, who shot 182 (93-89) and finished in 81st place. Chang carded a birdie in her final round.

Senior Iris Shin also competed as an individual and tied for 73rd place at 175 (87-88). Shin made her lone birdie of the day on the 10th hole.

Navy captured the team title in its home tournament with a final total of 616 (301-315). The Midshipmen beat Quinnipiac by five strokes.

LIU’s Emily Byrne was the individual medalist at two over par 146 (69-77).

Lehigh will next play in the SHU Fall Classic, Oct. 16-17 at Milford, Conn.
