2 dead following Lehigh County crash involving tractor trailer, coroner says

Two people are dead following a crash Sunday afternoon along Hamilton Boulevard in Upper Macungie Township, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio told lehighvalleylive.com his office was called to the scene at 4:15 pm The crash involved a car and a tractor trailer, Buglio said.

An Upper Macungie police lieutenant was not immediately available to provide more information on what led to the accident. However, WFMZ-69 News is reporting the car was traveling south on Folk Road and trying to cross Hamilton Boulevard. The tractor trailer, traveling east on Hamilton Boulevard, then struck the car, according to the report.

Buglio said he couldn’t release information just yet on which vehicles the two deceased were in. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office also is awaiting notification of next of kin before identifying the deceased.

Sunday’s accident remains under investigation by Upper Macungie police, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
