Sisselberger Invited to U.S. Men’s National Team Training Camp

SPARKS, Md. – After a successful tryout back in June, Mike Sisselberger of the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team was invited to participate in USA Lacrosse’s US Men’s National Team Training Camp from Sept. 23-25 ​​in Sparks, Md. in preparation for the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship.

Sisselberger joins Georgetown’s Will Bowen, Penn’s Sam Handley, Duke’s Brennan O’Neill, Loyola’s Payton Rezanka and Virginia’s Connor Shellenberger as six of 50 invitees who played collegiately during the 2022 season and still have college eligibility remaining.

He is one of four faceoff specialists to make the training camp roster joining Trevor Baptiste, TD Ierlan and Joseph Nardella. Sisselberger owns the single-season NCAA record for faceoff percentage at 79.5 percent.

Sisselberger is a two-time All-American – being named a consensus first team All-American in 2021 and a third team All-American by many (and honorable mention All-American by others) in 2022. He finished this past season third nationally in faceoff percentage (62.8 percent) and was second in groundballs per game (9.40), collecting 141 in 15 contests. Sisselberger is a two-time reigning Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year. In 2021, he won 225-of-283 faceoffs (79.5) with a program and league record 160 groundballs.

The September training camp opens a key period in the selection process for the final 23-man roster that will represent the US at the world championship. The US team will play in the Fall Classic at USA Lacrosse headquarters the weekend of Oct. 15-17 and will have one more camp before the end of the year.

The 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship will be held in San Diego, Calif., from June 21 to July 1, 2023.
