BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As Lehigh’s spring practice segment winds down the Mountain Hawks will take to the field at Goodman Stadium on Saturday for the annual Brown and White Spring Game. The controlled scrimmage pitting the offense against the defense will begin at 11 am as the Mountain Hawks put the finishing touches on a productive spring campaign that has focused on growth and development.

“I’ve seen a lot of progress across the board,” head coach Tom Gilmore said. “There has been a greater understanding of what we’re doing and our guys have been getting better from a technical standpoint. You always need to improve. We certainly need to continue to get better but it has been nice to see a fairly steady improvement across the board and the players have developed a better understanding of what we’re trying to do.”

Lehigh has completed 13 of its 15 allotted practices, most of which have been held early in the morning or in the evenings. The Mountain Hawks will hold their 14th practice Friday afternoon, with Saturday’s Brown and White game serving as the 15th and final practice.

Saturday’s event will feature an intersquad scrimmage. The Mountain Hawks will move the ball around the field and will work in some different on-field and down-and-distance type situations as well.

Admission is free for Saturday’s scrimmage. Prior to the start of the scrimmage, Lehigh will award the Jim Gum Scholarship, which is presented in memory of former Lehigh football player James S. Gum ’84.

Gilmore enters his fourth season with a Lehigh team that returns 18 starters and a group that finished strong in 2021, winning its final three games, including a 17-10 triumph over Lafayette in Rivalry 157.

The Mountain Hawks will open the 2022 season on the road at Villanova on Friday, Sept. 2. The home opener is set for Sept. 17 when Lehigh hosts Richmond. Lehigh football season tickets are now on sale for the 2022 campaign that includes five home games at Goodman Stadium plus the 158th edition of Lehigh-Lafayette, Nov. 19 in Easton. Mini-plans for the 2022 season go on sale on May 4.
