Mountain Hawks to Close Out Season with Trip to Colgate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball travels to Hamilton, NY as the Mountain Hawks face Colgate in their last match of the season. The match is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Colgate volleyball currently is at the top in Patriot League standings with an overall record of 21-5 and a 13-2 league mark. In the first matchup of the season, Lehigh fell 3-1 at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall on Oct. 8. The Mountain Hawks won the second set.

Despite two tough losses to Navy and American this past weekend, the Mountain Hawks’ efforts did not go unnoticed. Sophomore Megan Schulte and first-year Natalie Luscomb both received Patriot League Honorable Mentions.

Schulte was recognized for a combination of 42 kills for a hitting percentage of 0.397, 19 digs, five blocks and a service ace between both the Navy and American matches.

Saturday against American, Luscomb tallied a career-high 20 kills for a hitting percentage of .410 as well as five blocks.

Last weekend, sophomore Makena Smith totaled 96 assists, with 47 against Navy and then a season high-tying 49 against American.

Sophomore Kyleigh Brown drives the Lehigh defense with a total of 425 digs on the season, 46 of which Brown added versus Navy and American.

Schulte and Luscomb have both previously been recognized by the Patriot League for their efforts this season. Schulte was awarded Patriot League Player of the Week back in August and Luscomb garnered Rookie of the Week at the beginning of October.

Schulte currently leads the Mountain Hawks in both kills and points this season, with Luscomb not far behind her.

Lehigh enters its season finale at 13-14 overall and 4-11 in the league.

Standouts for Colgate this season include sophomore Abby Shadwick and graduate student Julia Kurowski. Shadwick leads the Raiders in both kills and points this season. Kurowski is second in points for the Raiders and takes the third spot for kills this season.

First year Carlie Rzeszotarski has won three Patriot League Rookie of the Week awards. Rzeszotarski is second on the team in kills and ranks fourth in overall points for Colgate.

Colgate won eight straight matches prior to a loss last Sunday against Army West Point.
