BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off of a first place finish at the Angry Birds Challenge, the women’s track and field team have a busy weekend ahead of them. Select members of the team will travel to Staten Island to compete in the Villanova Open at Ocean Breeze Complex while others will be competing at the Covert Classic, hosted by Moravian, at Rauch Fieldhouse.

The Mountain Hawks are coming off an impressive performance, finishing with 176 points, six first-place finishes and 19 personal records.

Melissa Cunningham, Teasha McKoy, Kaja Skerlj, Jamie Zamrin and Lehigh’s 4000m DMR were among the student-athletes to grab first-place finishes for Lehigh.

Cunningham and Randi Conroy were two Mountain Hawks able to earn an all-time spot last Saturday. The first-year duo are now second all time in the 60m (7.78m) and eighth in the pole vault (3.35m), respectively.

A majority of the women’s track and field team will travel to Staten Island to compete in the Villanova Open, however several Mountain Hawks will seek victories and personal records at Rauch Fieldhouse for the Covert Classic.

At the Villanova Open, Lehigh will battle several different schools such as Connecticut, St. John’s, Pennsylvania, and Temple. The Mountain Hawks competing in Rauch are set to compete against DeSales, Colgate, Moravian, Saint Joseph’s and many more.

The Villanova Open will begin at 12 pm with the women’s weight throw, women’s pole vault and men’s and women’s long jump. The Covert Classic will begin at 10 am on Saturday with the women’s pole vault and men’s 5k.

Due to Moravian being the host institution for the Covert Classic, no spectators will be allowed in Rauch Fieldhouse. The Covert Classic can be streamed here and live results can be found here.
