Mountain Hawks Lead Alabama A&M Fall Invite Following Opening Round

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lehigh men’s golf team shot a blistering 11 under par 277 on day one of the Alabama A&M Fall Invite Monday at Robert Trent Jones at Hampton Cove. Four of Lehigh’s five scoring players shot under par as the Mountain Hawks carry a 13-stroke lead into Tuesday’s final round.

Tournament host Alabama A&M is in second place in the nine-team field, followed by Alabama State.

First-year Jake Roth led the way for Lehigh with a four under par 68 Monday. Roth carded five birdies and one bogey as he sits in second place, two strokes behind Felipe Gomez Lopez of Alabama A&M.

Seniors Daniel Song and David Hurly both shot three under par 69 and are tied for third place. Song made four birdies over his final 10 holes while Hurly led Lehigh with six birdies in Monday’s opening round.

Two strokes behind Song and Hurly is senior Sam Barton who made four birdies and shot 71 to sit in a tie for seventh place.

Junior Edmund Broderick made one birdie in an opening round 74 and is tied for 12th place.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Aidan Oehrle shot 76 and is tied for 22nd place. Oehrle made three birdies in his opening round.

The Alabama A&M Fall Invite will conclude Tuesday and will also mark the final round of Lehigh’s fall campaign. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
