Mountain Hawks Heading to Moravian and Bucknell This Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks have a busy weekend ahead of them as they compete in two meets. Some members of the Lehigh men’s track and field team will head to Lewisburg, Pa. to compete in Bucknell’s Bison Outdoor Classic while others will remain in Bethlehem to compete in Moravian’s Greyhound Invitational.

The multis will kick off competition at the Bison Outdoor Classic on Thursday. The meet will begin at 10 am with the decathlon 100m race. Competition will end in Lewisburg on Saturday with the men’s 4×400 relay starting at 5:40 pm

The Greyhound Invitational will be held on Friday at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. The meet will begin at 11 am with the men’s pole vault.

Lehigh is coming off of its first home meet of the outdoor season last Saturday. The Mountain Hawks finished with 13 PRs and two-first places finishes.

Junior Tyler French was the first student-athlete to win an event on Saturday. French won the 1500m with a new personal record of 3:59.55. First-year Jonathan Bennett was the second Mountain Hawk to win an event on Saturday.

Lehigh’s sprints group continued to put up impressive times on the track. Senior Harrison Ernst earned new personal records in both the 200m (23.33) and the 400m (50.45). First-year Patrez Thomas earned his fourth PR of the season, finishing the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.28. Thomas was named Patriot League Honorable Mention for his efforts last weekend.

On the distance side, junior Brandtson Duffie continued to excel in the 800m. Duffie finished second with a time of 1:52.11. Fellow juniors Kerem Ayhan (1:52.54) and Jacob Martinez (1:52.56) followed suit, finishing third and fourth, respectively.

The Mountain Hawks put up solid marks in the field at Goodman Track and Field Complex on Saturday. First-year Ethan McHugh earned PRs in both the shot put (10.69m) and hammer throw (33.32m). Fellow first-year Liam Lovering finished sixth in the discus with a mark of 44.48m.
