Mountain Hawks Finish Up Action at Sacred Heart Fall Classic

MILFORD, Conn. – A second consecutive round of 327 lifted the Lehigh women’s golf team to an eighth place finish at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic, which wrapped up Monday at Great River Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks battled through adverse weather conditions to finish with a final total of 654.

Sophomore Madison Pineda was the low finisher for the Mountain Hawks as she claimed 16th place at 156 (76-80). Pineda’s final round included a pair of birdies.

Junior Meghna Grover and first-year Yuki Zhu both shot 82 in Monday’s final round. Grover finished in a tie for 30th place at 163 (81-82), while Zhu tied for 39th place at 166 (84-82).

Sophomore Sophie Chang enjoyed the biggest improvement from round one to round two, as she followed an opening round 89 with an 83 Monday to tie for 51st place at 172.

Senior Hannah Foster tied for 60th place at 178 (86-92).

Competing as an individual, senior Marina Mendez posted rounds of 96 and 89 to finish 65th at 185.

Sacred Heart captured the team title in its own invitational at 594 (296-298). The Pioneers defeated Boston University by 13 strokes.

The host Pioneers also had the individual medalist, Chantal El Chaib, who finished at one over par 145, two strokes better than Alice Fan of Boston University.

The Mountain Hawks will next close out their fall season by hosting the Lehigh Invitational, Oct. 24-25 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
