BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams earned All-Academic Team honors while recent graduate Kyle Burke was named All-Academic Athlete, announced by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earlier this week.

On the men’s side, 176 programs were honored, while 240 programs were honored on the women’s side.

The women’s team concluded the spring semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.39, ranking fifth among Lehigh Athletics, while the men’s program earned a 3.13 GPA.

The USTFCCCA recognizes teams with an average cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher among all student-athletes on the 2021-22 roster. For individual academic honors, student-athletes must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and complete at least two semesters at their current institution. Student-athletes also need to finish in the top 96 in any championship individual event or top 48 in any championship relay event during the indoor season and participate in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships or finish in the top 48 for multi-events during the outdoor season.

Burke graduated in May with a 3.66 cumulative GPA in computer science and business. During the 2021-22 season, Burke was named Academic All-Patriot League during both the indoor and outdoor seasons and was a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team. During his time at Lehigh, Burke was a member of the Patriot League Honor Roll six times and was named to Lehigh’s Dean’s List several times as well.

“Lehigh is all about balancing high level academics with high level athletics,” said men’s cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Todd Etters. “Kyle showed you can reach high levels of both if you just balance them really well. He should be an inspiration to future student-athletes that you can balance both and also do them really well.”
