PRINCETON, NJ – The Lehigh rowing teams concluded their fall seasons Sunday on Lake Carnegie as the Mountain Hawks raced in the Princeton 3-Mile Chase.

“I’m happy with the day of racing from both boats and the direction of this points us in for the year as we close out the fall racing season,” commented first-year head coach Peter Costas. “We’ve been seeing fitness and technical improvements through the fall in a practice environment, but the real test is translating that into a competitive race.”

The women finished 41st of the 59 entries while the men placed 32nd of 41 boats that raced on Lake Carnegie. Costas credited the confidence and composure of the seniors for their performances today.

“We got a lot from our seniors today. This was a new, challenging environment with very high-level competition. There were some high winds for our practice rows on the course yesterday, a lot of things could have pushed this group out of rhythm .It was clear that our seniors set a confident and focused tone, and it translated into aggressive racing and some of our best rowing to this point,” added Costas.

The Mountain Hawks have concluded the fall portion of their schedule and head into their winter training season with a positive outlook.

“We can get to work with the trust and confidence that we’re capable of performing when it’s time,” concluded Costas.
