Lehigh vaults to fifth heading into final day of Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Junior Danielle Prekop and fifth-year senior Ann Foley both qualified for A-Finals on Friday night, as the Lehigh women enter the final day of competition Saturday in fifth place at 155 points after Day 3 of the Patriot League Championships at Lejeune Hall.

One night removed from claiming the bronze medal in the 50-yard freestyle, Foley got a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:48.42.

Prekop looked strong in her preliminary heat earlier in the afternoon, but managed only an eighth-place finish in the final of the 400-yard individual medley, swimming to a time of 4:28.53.

Many Mountain Hawks swam B-Finals with an opportunity to tack on points to the team score as Julia Stevens started things off with a sixth-place finish (56.39) in the 100-yard fly B-Final, while Sarah Horne clocked in at 4 :28.86 in the 400-yard IM with a fifth-place finish.

Heading over to the B-Final of the 200-yard freestyle, Noel Fresa finished seventh (1:55.52) and with a time of 1:55.79, Sarah Manthorp came in eighth.

First year Willa Werwaiss continued her strong Patriots showing with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke B-Final (57.53) and the night concluded in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Foley (22.99), Maggie Mikalic (24.29), Manthorp (23.31) and Fresa (23.31) timed in at 1:34.49, good for a seventh-place showing.

The fourth and final day of the Patriot League Championships kicks off Saturday at 10 am for the prelims and 6 pm for the finals to conclude the 2021-22 campaign for the Mountain Hawks. Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required).

Tomorrow’s events and participants include the 200-yard back (Willa Werwaiss and Hallie Wilson), the 100-yard free (Ann Foley and Sarah Manthorp), the 200-yard breast (Hannah Lord, Danielle Prekop, Kelsey Thompson and Maddie Dorish), the 200-yard fly (Julia Stevens, Sarah Hardy, Sarah Horne, Natalie Martin and Jordan MacDonald) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (Mikalic, Lord and Martin).
