Lehigh to take on Rival Lafayette in 104th meeting on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off a 72-65 overtime victory over Loyola on Wednesday, the Lehigh women’s basketball team will travel to Easton to take on rival Lafayette at Kirby Center at 2 pm on Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks have had a good run going, winning four of their last five games. They are now .500, going 9-9 (5-2 PL). The Leopards have won two of their last three games after dropping their first four conference games of the season. Lafayette has an overall record of 5-12.
Lafayette most recently played American on Jan. 18, coming away with a 59-57 victory. Lehigh also bested the Eagles by two points on Jan. 14, winning 79-77.
Mackenzie Kramer tallied a team-high of 21 points against Loyola, which also marked the 14th time she has scored in double figures this season. Frannie Hottinger, who leads the league in scoring (20.6 points per game) had 15 and first-year Lily Fandre followed closely with 11 points of her own, also recording a career-high of six assists. Fandre also had a team-high of seven rebounds, which tied a career-high.
On Wednesday, Hottinger was named to the NCAA’s starting five of the week, which selects the five best college basketball players of the week. Hottinger has also recorded a season-high of 371 points through 18 games played.
Lehigh is 56-47 all-time against Lafayette. Both schools have won more at home. Lehigh is 33-17 at home and 21-28 when playing in Easton. It was the opposite in last year’s meeting. The Mountain Hawks won at Lafayette and were defeated at home.
Three Leopards average double digits. Makayla Andrews (12.8 points per game) leads the way, and Abby Antognoli (11.1 points per game) and Jessica Booth (10.6 points per game) follow Andrews.
Coming into Saturday’s game, Lehigh leads the league in scoring (72.9 points per game), and Lafayette is eighth in the league (54.1 points per game).
After going 21-of-24 against Loyola at the charity stripe, Lehigh is once again first in the nation in free throw percentage (80.2).
