Lehigh Returns Home to Host St. Elizabeth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s basketball team returns home to host Division III St. Elizabeth in a non-league game inside Stabler Arena for their second game in three days. The Eagles and Mountain Hawks will meet for the first time in their program’s history and Lehigh will face his second Division III opponent of the season, taking down Misericordia 97-58 inside of Grace Hall on Nov 13.
Lehigh (4-5) enters the night coming off a 78-56 loss to No. 22 Wisconsin on Thursday evening in Madison, Wis. The Mountain Hawks led by as many as nine points and held a one-point lead at the half, but Wisconsin pulled away in the second half. Taylor led the Mountain Hawks in scoring with 18 points, two rebounds and an assist, scoring in double-figures for the seventh game this season. Taylor shot 70 percent (7-for-10) from the floor, 2-for-3 beyond the three-point line, and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, the only free throws attempted for Lehigh. Following suit was Higgins Jr., who recorded 15 points and two rebounds, shooting 7-for-11 from the field, and made the only three-pointer he took in the contest.
Three Mountain Hawks are averaging at least 12 points per game, led by Taylor with 14.0 points per game, with 5.1 rebounds per outing. Whitney-Sidney is scoring 12.6 points per outing, and a team-leading 19 steals and 4.9 rebounds while Higgins Jr. follows with 12.0 points and 2.3 assists per game.
St. Elizabeth (3-5) is on a two-game winning streak and is coming off a three-point home victory (90-87) over John Jay where four Eagles recorded double-digit performances, led by Isaac Holmes who scored 29 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Three Eagles are averaging double-figures, led by Pierre Harden, who is scoring 16.8 points and 6.4 rebounds. D’Angelo Blackmond is averaging a double-double with 15.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per outing while Jonathan Ramos is scoring at a clip of 10.1 points while grabbing 6.0 boards per game.
The Mountain Hawks will travel to Cornell on Saturday, Dec. 21 for their last non-league contest. Tip-off is set for 7 pm inside of Stabler Arena and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
