BROOKINGS, SD – The Lehigh women’s basketball team will head to No. 23 South Dakota State Friday night for an 8 pm ET matchup against the Jackrabbits.

This will be the first ranked opponent Lehigh has faced since West Virginia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021. Lehigh is 0-11 all-time vs. ranked opponents and is searching for his first ranked win against the Jackrabbits.

Lehigh comes into this match 1-0 after beating Stonehill 60-43. South Dakota State is 0-1 after falling to No.21 Creighton on Monday.

The two teams have never met before, but there are no short of common opponents between the two.

The Jackrabbits defeated Seton Hall in the WNIT Championship game last season. Lehigh and Seton Hall met last year when the Mountain Hawks lost by 10 points.

South Dakota State also faced Minnesota, who defeated the Jackrabbits in the WNIT. Lehigh and Minnesota will meet on Sunday at 4 pm EST.

Frannie Hottinger got off to a hot start to the season. The senior wing scored 21 points while grabbing a career-high 18 rebounds and coming away with four steals. Mackenzie Kramer finished behind Hottinger with 13 points.

The Jackrabbits had four double-digit scorers in their 78-69 loss to Creighton. Myah Selland led the way with 22 points, Brooklyn Meyer had 12, and Haleigh Timmer and Ellie Colbeck both had 10 as well.

The Mountain Hawk’s defense was the highlight on Monday, forcing 23 turnovers against Stonehill. They came away with 14 steals and eight blocks. First-year Lily Fandre had two of those blocks, and she also scored four points in her collegiate debut.
