Lehigh Heads To Florida For Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s golf team will begin their spring break in warmer weather traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla., for the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational, hosted by Sacred Heart. The tournament will be played at LPGA International – Jones Course on Friday and Saturday.

Lehigh opened its spring season at the Bright’s Creek Invitational, Feb. 26-27 in North Carolina. First-year Madison Pineda continued her fantastic rookie campaign, leading the Mountain Hawks with scores of 76 and 75 to finish sixth at 151. Pineda was recognized as an honorable mention for Patriot League Women’s Golfer of the Week for her efforts.

Pineda will be joined by another top-10 finisher from the Brights Creek Invitational in sophomore Sophie Holland. Holland stayed consistent shooting 154 (77-77) and took 10th place.

The rest of the Mountain Hawk starting lineup will feature junior Hannah Foster, sophomore Sophie Taverna and first-year Mia Scarpati who will make her spring season debut. Juniors Iris Shin and Marina Mendez, first-year Sophie Chang and sophomore Meghna Grover will compete as individuals for Lehigh.

The SHU Invitational will feature 18 holes on Friday and Saturday with tee times beginning at 7 am both days. LPGA International – Jones Course is par 72 and should play around 6,240 yards. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

Lehigh will be a part of a 14-team field that includes Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, LIU, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary’s, Purdue Fort Wayne, Saint Francis, Seton Hall, Siena and the hosts Sacred Heart .

Following their spring break trip, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Williamsburg, Va., for the Kingsmill Intercollegiate March 28-29.
