QUEENS, NY – The Lehigh men’s soccer team fell to St. John’s, 5-0 Friday night at Belson Stadium in the finale of a three-game road trip.

“Obviously, it was a tough result for us tonight,” said The Ingrassia Family Men’s Head Soccer Coach Dean Koski. “I think as a coaching staff, we just got it wrong in terms of our game plan and our lineup and formation. Certainly, I feel for the guys on that. Did we play our best soccer? No, not at all. Tonight ( including our scrimmages), we were the most disconnected that we’ve been so far.

“We’re three games in and we have a lot of work to do. We believe this group is committed to doing the work and trying to figure it out. Our job as a coaching staff is to put this behind us and learn what we can and move onto the next game and get ready for La Salle. I do think we have the group to get it done this season and we will re-group and move on.”

The Mountain Hawks (0-3) recorded a total of 10 shots with four on goal (two for first-year Yusef Gueye), but couldn’t overcome the Red Storm who found the back of the net three times in the first half and twice in the second.

Antek Sienkiel netted a hat trick (’18, ’23, ’51) to lead the way for St. John’s, while a 30th minute strike from Brandon Knapp and a 66th minute tally from Wesley Leggett put the finishing touches on the victory.

Lehigh used the services of two goalkeepers on the night, as first-year goalkeeper Tommy Chyzowych made three saves after coming on to play to begin the second half.

Senior Dominic Flowers took a team-high three shots off the bench, playing 55 minutes.

Lehigh will return to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Tuesday night for the first time, hosting La Salle at 6 pm, streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required).
