Lehigh Completes First 36 Holes at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Lehigh women’s golf team turned in rounds of 315 and 311 on a cold and windy Monday at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort River Course. The opening day 626 has the Mountain Hawks tied for sixth place in a 14-team field.

First-year Madison Pineda turned in the round of the day for the Mountain Hawks, with a one over par 73 in the afternoon. Combined with an opening round 79, Pineda is tied for 10th place at 152. Pineda made five birdies on Monday, including three in her second round.

Junior Hannah Foster led Lehigh in Monday’s first round, carding a five over par 77. She then shot 79 in the afternoon and is tied for 17th place at 156. Foster made one birdie in both of her rounds Monday.

Sophomore Meghna Grover, who was named Patriot League Golfer of the Week following Lehigh’s most recent tournament, carded back-to-back rounds of 79 and is tied for 24th place at 158. Grover’s lone birdie of the day came on the 16th hole in round one.

Also competing for the Mountain Hawks are sophomore Sophia Taverna, who is tied for 56th place at 165 (80-85) and first-year Mia Scarpati, who sits in a tie for 72nd place at 174. Scarpati bounced back from a morning 94 with at 80 in the afternoon. Both Taverna and Scarpati made one birdie on Monday.

Delaware leads the team standings at 608 (302-306). The Blue Hens lead host William & Mary by nine strokes and Richmond by 10.

The 36-hole individual leader is Delaware’s Oihana Etxezarreta, who shot two under par 140 (72-70). Etxezaretta leads Emma Lu of William & Mary by four strokes.

The Kingsmill Intercollegiate concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play, beginning at 9 am
