Keckler Unveils 2022 Volleyball Schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – An impressive slate of non-league matches and tournaments awaits the Lehigh volleyball program in 2022, as head coach Alexa Keckler officially released the Mountain Hawks’ schedule Wednesday afternoon.

The 2022 iteration of the campaign includes 28 total matches – 13 at home and 15 on the road – with six of the first 11 matches of the year coming in tournaments away from Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.

The schedule begins with the three-opponent FAU Invite, opening the season with a 10 am match against Mercer on Aug. 26 followed by a 4:30 pm matchup against Alabama A&M. The Mountain Hawks take on host Florida Atlantic in the finale on Aug. 27, a rematch from a year ago in Towson, Md. in which the Owls came out on top, 3-1.

Lehigh returns home for the first time to host the second annual Steel Classic Tournament, opening up the weekend with two matches on Sept. 2 against Cleveland State and Buffalo. It will host Rider in the final match of the weekend on Sept. 3 at 3 pm The Mountain Hawks went 2-1 in the Steel Classic a year ago, getting victories over St. Francis Brooklyn and Binghamton.

The first home mid-week match of the season takes place on Sept. 7 as the Mountain Hawks host Saint Peter’s at 7 pm

A return trip from last year’s Steel Classic, Lehigh heads to Hanover, NH for the Dartmouth Tournament Sept. 9-10 taking on Hartford and Dartmouth on the opening day before going against Merrimack on Sept. 10.

The final mid-week tilt at Grace Hall is against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 13, a rematch from last year’s 3-1 victory over the Knights in Teaneck, NJ

The first Patriot League weekend of the season is on the road as the Mountain Hawks open play against archrival Lafayette on Sept. 16, followed a day after with a match against Bucknell in Lewisburg.

Taking a quick break from the league calendar, Lehigh heads to Philadelphia to play Penn on Sept. 20 in the Palestra.

A match against Holy Cross on Sept. 23 and one against Army West Point on Sept. 24 highlight the first league weekend of the season at home taking on those opponents at 7 and 4 pm, respectively.

Lehigh does the Maryland-DC swing with matchups at American (Sept. 30) and Navy (Oct. 1) before returning back home to Grace Hall to face Loyola Maryland (Oct. 7) and defending Patriot League champion Colgate (Oct. 8) .

The Mountain Hawks will play a single match on the road at Loyola Maryland on Oct. 15 before coming back home a week later to host Bucknell (Oct. 22) and Lafayette (Oct. 23).

Army West Point and Holy Cross are the road opponents on Oct. 28 and 29, respectively before the final two Grace Hall matches of the regular season on Nov. 4 vs. Navy and Nov. 5 vs. American.

Lehigh closes the regular season on Nov. 12 at Colgate.

The Patriot League Tournament will run from Nov. 15-19 with the quarterfinals starting Nov. 15, the semifinal round on Nov. 18 and the championship match on Nov. 19.

Keckler’s 2022 squad is an underclassmen-heavy roster with five incoming first-years, five rising sophomores and five juniors.
