County reports on schedules for the holiday | News, Sports, Jobs

Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The county’s holiday schedule adjustments are as follows:

– Domestic animal services

Animal Services, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, will be closed on July 4 and will resume regular business hours on July 5.

– LeeTran

LeeTran will not run regular bus, trolley or paratransit service on July 4. However, holiday service to and on Fort Myers Beach will run from 3 pm to midnight, pausing during the fireworks; Holiday service in the Fort Myers River District will run from 5:30 to 11:15 pm Regular service will resume on July 5. – Parks & Recreation

Lee County’s parks, splash pads, pools and preserves will remain open on July 4. Recreation centers and offices will be closed on July 4 and will reopen on July 5. The county asks park patrons to remember no alcohol is permitted in county parks and fireworks are prohibited.

For people who plan to visit the Causeway Island Park, staff reminds them to stay safe and be courteous. Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be enforcing the county’s noise ordinance; keep music volumes reasonable. No motorized vessels, such as personal watercraft, can be launched from the beaches; Boat ramps are available on both sides of the causeway. Park hours are from dawn until dusk, and deputies and rangers will be enforcing the hours for safety. Increased staffing is planned to help with park rule enforcement. – Solid waste

All garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, including Captiva, will take place one day after the regularly scheduled collection day for the entire week of July 4. If your regular collection day is Monday, the collection truck will pick up the material on Tuesday. Tuesday’s regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Wednesday and so on for the rest of the week through July 9. Regular collection schedules will resume on July 11.

Lee County Solid Waste facilities and offices will be closed on July 4. It includes operations at the: Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers; Resource Recovery Facility on Buckingham Road; and Lee/Hendry Regional Solid Waste Disposal Facility. The Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility will be closed on July 2, but open on July 9 from 8 am to noon.

Residents are urged to recycle plastic, metal and glass containers from holiday weekend activities.
