BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball head coach Alexa Keckler has added a graduate assistant to the coaching staff ahead of the 2022 season, tabbing Rachel Bewick to take over the post that was previously occupied by Emily Poole the last two years.

“We are very excited to welcome Rachel to our program as our new Graduate Assistant,” Keckler said. “Rachel proved to be a very motivated candidate during our search, showing eagerness to learn the ins and outs of coaching. She has excellent experience already teaching and coaching at the club level for several years and will be a wonderful addition to the team.”

Bewick, a native of Greenville, NC, begins her collegiate coaching career after four seasons playing as a libero at Lenoir-Rhyne University. She joins a coaching staff that includes Keckler and Sarah Gomish.

In 2021, she was an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention for Division II, earning First Team All-Conference honors as well as leading the Bears to the SAC Championship and NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen. Bewick holds the Lenoir-Rhyne record for most digs in a single match (42).

She has seven years of coaching experience at the travel level with BVA (Asheville, NC), Carolina Select (Hickory, NC) and BEVC (Hickory, NC).

“I would like to give a sincere thank you to Coach Keckler for giving me the opportunity to help provide the Lehigh student-athletes the tools to become strong leaders on and off the volleyball court,” said Bewick. “I would also like to recognize Dean of Athletics Joe Sterrett and the rest of the department. Lehigh Athletics is deeply rooted in building leadership skills among their student-athletes, which is something I believe in wholeheartedly.

“I am looking forward to passing along my knowledge and passion for the game to the players and am honored to become a Mountain Hawk.”
