2022 Academy Day to be held March 5 | News, Sports, Jobs

Congressman Byron Donalds

District 19 Congressman Byron, R-FL, has announced details regarding the 2022 Academy Day.

The event will begin at 11 am this Saturday and will be held in the Cohen Ballroom at Florida Gulf Coast University, 10501 FGCU Blvd. S., Fort Myers.

“I’m honored to host this year’s Academy Day to provide aspiring students with the knowledge and resources necessary to continue their education at one of our nation’s prestigious military institutions,” said Donalds in a prepared statement issued Wednesday. “Our country is only as strong as the men and women who serve our great nation.”

Academy Day, to be held on March 5, serves as an opportunity for high school students to learn about our nation’s military service academies.

Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five US service academies: US Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the US Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the US Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the US Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Each member may nominate up to 10 individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to his or her district.

Those interested in attending a military service academy in the Class of 2027 may RSVP and learn more on Rep. Donalds’ congressional website, https://donalds.house.gov/services/service-academy.htm.
